The Sun Lakes Fire District is accepting applications for Firefighter recruit. All testing through National Testing Network (NTN) must be completed by October 30, 2015 at 4:00 pm. Salary Information: Firefighter Recruit hiring salary is $17.27 per hour in academy. $17.61 per hour upon graduation.

Department Information: The Sun Lakes Fire District provides fire and emergency medical service and transportation to a 6.75 square mile area, primarily the Sun Lakes retirement community. We are bordered by the city of Chandler to the north and east, and Gila River Indian community to the west and the south. Current call volume averages approximately 3500 calls annually. A Firefighter must successfully complete a firefighter training Academy and the required District one year probationary criteria. Firefighters are required to work 24- hour shifts and 56 hour work weeks. This class is FLSA nonexempt. Position is classed "Safety Sensitive".

October 5, 2015 National Testing Network will post the Position for Firefighter Recruit. The first phase of the process will close October 30, 2015 at 1600 hrs. All candidates must complete the National Testing Network exam prior to the closing date and time. Only the highest qualified candidates will be notified to schedule an interview(s) and continue phase II of the process. At that time a Valid CPAT & SLFD employment application must be filled out and submitted accompanied by an acceptable form of photo I.D., I.e. driver's license, passport etc. All successful candidates will be invited to an oral board interview(s) During November and December 2014. Any out of state candidates must obtain State of Arizona Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic (CEP) certification prior to a contingent offer of employment. Distinguishing Features: A Firefighter must successfully complete the Firefighter Training Academy, obtain Arizona State Firefighter I & II certification and complete the required District one year probationary criteria. Firefighters are required to work 24-hour shifts and 56-hour work weeks, and may be assigned to work a day assignment (40-hour work week) while assisting on special projects. This class is FLSA nonexempt. Position is classified "Safety Sensitive".

Minimum Qualification(s) Required: All candidates must be 18 years of age. Possess a current State of Arizona Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic (CEP) certification. Provide a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) card within the last 12 months, High school diploma or GED. Must possess a valid Arizona Driver's License. Must meet the qualifications to wear a tight fitting respirator by passing a medical evaluation test in accordance with CFR 1910.134 by hire date and must maintain certification.
